Sometimes, the hardest truth to accept is that God’s love doesn’t always look the way we expect. We pray for something, and He answers—but not in the way we wanted. And when we are in sin, when we are living outside of His will, we might think God has left us. But the truth is, He is always there, guiding, correcting, and protecting us—sometimes even from ourselves.
Calling on God in the Middle of Sin
Many people think that if they are in sin, God won’t listen. But that is not true. He hears even the prayers we whisper in the dark places, the prayers we make while we are still tangled in our wrong choices. I know, because I was there. No one knows this, not even the man involved, but while I was living in sin, I was still praying. I prayed for his relationship, I prayed for us to be a family, I prayed for God to work things out.
And God did answer. Just not in the way I thought He would.
Biblical Truth: God Sees What We Cannot
Isaiah 55:8-9 – “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.”

In the moment, we may only see what we desire. But God sees beyond our emotions and circumstances. When we trust Him, we trust that His answer—even when painful—is for our good.
A Hard Answer, A Loving Answer
When I found out I was pregnant, I thought maybe this was how God would bring everything together. I wanted a family. I wanted to feel like I belonged. And I truly wanted to be a mother. But deep inside, I also knew the reality—I was alone. Even with his words of support, I knew I was alone in this.
So, I prayed harder. I asked God to help me because I couldn’t see a way forward. And He answered—by removing what I thought I needed. Losing the baby was heartbreaking, and at first, it felt like punishment. Like I had failed. But when I learned that he was getting married to another woman, I realized what God had really done.
That was when I realized: God didn’t punish me. He rescued me.

God’s “No” is Often His Greatest Protection
I was praying for something God never intended for me. I was asking Him to bless something that was never built on His foundation. But rather than leave me in the mess I created, He loved me enough to pull me out.
I cried so much when I was pregnant because I knew I had failed myself and I had failed God. I had settled for a false comfort, for an illusion of belonging, instead of standing firm in my purpose. I wanted to be a mother so I wouldn’t feel alone, but in reality, I would have been more alone than ever. No support, no family close by. Just me and a child in a situation built on brokenness.
And God, in His grace and mercy, saved me from it.
You Are Loved, Even in Your Mistakes
To every woman who is living in sin, thinking that God doesn’t hear you—He does. To every woman who has prayed in the middle of their bad decisions, wondering if God is still listening—He is. And to every woman who feels like she has failed too much for God to still love her—you haven’t.
I learned that the hard way. I thought I was broken, unworthy, unlovable. But instead, God showed me that I was His. That I deserved better. That I was not meant to be someone’s afterthought or a place of convenience. He had greater plans for me.
Sister, He has greater plans for you too. Even if you can’t see them yet. Even if you are crying your eyes out, feeling like you lost everything—trust that God knows what you don’t.
Spiritual Homework: Reflect on God’s Protection
- Read & Meditate on Psalm 91 – This chapter speaks of God’s divine protection over His people.
- Write down past situations where God’s “No” later made sense – How did His plan turn out better than what you originally wanted?
- Pray for wisdom & discernment – Ask God to open your eyes to what He is protecting you from.
A Prayer for Trusting God’s Plan
Heavenly Father, I thank You for Your wisdom and Your ways, even when I don’t understand them. Help me to trust You when You say no. Help me to see that Your love protects me, even when it feels like I am losing something. Strengthen my faith and guide me toward Your perfect will. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Final Encouragement
If you are in a place where you are asking, Why did God let this happen?—I encourage you to shift the question to, What is God protecting me from? Because He sees what we can’t.
His “No” is not rejection. His “No” is a rescue.
Trust Him. Because even in your worst moments, you are still deeply loved.
If you’re in a season of pain and unanswered prayers, take heart—God’s “No” is not rejection, it’s a redirection. Trust that He sees what you cannot, and know that His love is guiding you toward something far greater than what you thought you wanted. Let His “No” lead you to His greater “Yes.”
