✨ Faith Bigger Than a Mustard Seed – Day 6: Faith Is a Muscle – Work It Even When You’re Tired
Scripture: James 2:17 – “Faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.”
Let’s rewind a bit… because today is about checking in and asking:
Am I working my faith or just talking it?
Back in 2011, me and my mom packed up everything we had and moved to Texas. No big plan. No big budget. Just garage sales, grit, and God. We had visited Houston and Austin and felt like Texas was calling us… so we went.
We didn’t have family in the city we landed in. I only had one cousin in Houston—and thank God for her, because she helped keep me safe while I went to school.
And yes, I drove 2 hours back and forth just to go to class—while working. That was faith in action.
My mom got sick not long after. I watched her push through pain to survive. She had to leave her externship after passing out at work. Eventually, she left me in the city by myself.
But I made it.
I kept going.
I didn’t fold.
I moved forward and eventually relocated to Dallas to be with her again the next year.
That’s where my real faith walk started.
When I got my first apartment, I was young and made some messy choices—especially around men and money. But through it all, I started to see something:
God was growing me.
He wasn’t just saving me—He was training me.
My faith grew not just through prayers, but through action.
Working.
Driving.
Helping my mom.
Holding on when I felt like quitting.
Making choices. Learning from them. Praying again.
That’s the real faith walk.
It’s not just what you say.
It’s what you do when things look crazy, empty, or impossible.
And I’ll say this to every young woman/man reading:
You don’t need a man or a woman to move into your own space.
You need God.
You need discipline.
You need faith that walks.
So today, ask yourself:
Am I flexing my faith or letting it atrophy?
Because faith isn’t passive—it’s active.
It’s showing up. It’s getting back up.
It’s trusting God with tears in your eyes and still doing the work.
Declare it today:
“I put action behind my belief. I don’t just say it—I show it.”
